Oil above $99 as Greece approves austerity cuts

(AP) ? Oil prices rose above $99 a barrel Monday in Asia after the Greek parliament approved new austerity measures that should secure a bailout and avoid bankruptcy.

Benchmark crude for March delivery was up 58 cents at $99.25 a barrel at midmorning Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell $1.17 to settle at $98.67 on Friday.

Brent crude was up 85 cents at $117.60 a barrel on the ICE Futures Exchange in London.

The vote by Greek lawmakers ? which came as rioters in central Athens torched buildings, looted shops and clashed with riot police ? paves the way for Greece's European partners and the International Monetary Fund to release $170 billion (?130 billion) in new rescue loans.

Without the bailout, Greece likely would default on its debt next month and leave the eurozone ? a scenario that would have roiled global markets.

Oil prices have hovered near $100 for the last few months as signs of an improving U.S. economy bolstered investor confidence. However, the University of Michigan's measure of consumer confidence fell in February, and some analysts are blaming higher gasoline prices.

"The problem is that gasoline prices have recently jumped and this appears to have more than offset the positive developments," Capital Economics said in a report.

Some analysts expect weak global economic growth this year will push prices lower. The International Energy Agency said Friday that global oil demand will likely grow less than 1 percent this year.

"To be bullish from here, one would need to believe a supply disruption is coming," Morgan Stanley said in a report. "With fundamentals weakening, we believe that any further upside is unlikely without a supply shock."

In other energy trading, heating oil was up 1 cent at $3.20 per gallon and gasoline futures were steady at $2.97 per gallon. Natural gas slid 5 cents to $2.42 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Just about every cent invested in home development should be well planned as well as thought out particularly in this period of economic and financial difficulties. House renovations rarely offer awesome return of investment, so for frugalitys sake, it?s never ever a good approach to spend very much over it. You can find much more imperative things that require funds compared to home enhancements currently. In reality, you can find research that point out that the normal ROI on home improvement is going down. More particularly, roughly sixty to seventy percent of yield on home improvement has decreased a year ago. It means that for each buck used on home improvement, only 60 to 70 cents will return to you as gain for the home.

However, despite of this particular demoralizing sign, there?s still valid reason to invest time frame and money on home improvement. In case you are trying to find the most effective ROI,you could, then you should go for following: wood deck addition, minor kitchen remodeling, bed room renovation, inclusion of garage, underground room finishing, some bathroom remodeling, inclusion of an upscale restroom, installing of Windows in Boise Idaho along with Replacement windows in Twin Falls Idaho and so forth.

House remodeling choices can be divided into 3 groups: minimal, mid-range and major. All of these are organized in accordance with the amount of money required for work. Transforming the flooring surfaces, tiling job, bathroom entrance doors, sink replacement and fitting brand new entrance doors and home?s windows are considered as minimal home upgrades. Mid scale face-lifts include redesigning the lavatory by means of placing a brand-new counter with sink or adding a brand new bathroom using a classy tub and Shower doors in Boise IDaho.

Individuals who make home enhancements based on ROI are often times happy about minimal and mid-range changes. However, those who wanted making their homes look considerably better and would like to spend their whole lives in that house tend to be ready to dismiss what their own heads say and follow what is into their hearts. Therefore, they?re happy to invest huge amounts, not minding if the expenditure may bear fruit for them later on. A fashionable premium kitchen, a spa, a swimming pool and a fire area are a few of the most lucrative upgrades that do not assure ROI.

Apart from beauty and comfort, high efficiency home improvement ideas should also be thought of for a much more satisfying living experience. The related green factor with fuel efficient and economical add-ons will always be at the top of home improvement ideas. You can find simple strategies on making the house environmentally friendly, examples of which are fitting UPVC windows and insulation of walls. All of these can minimize the power expenses successfully. Additionally, you can consider better home security. All of these are actually important lately and could offer you with a ROI. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Puts Security In Online Transactions ...

SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is an industry standard communication security technology which affords security for the transactions carried out over the net. The encrypted link it establishes connects the browser and the web server.

In order to activate the SSL on a web server, the user needs to type in the necessary data about his or her website and company. Two cryptographic keys that will then encrypt the data will be produced following the abovementioned step. In order to distinguish the two keys from each other, they?re conveniently labeled as a Private Key and the Public Key.

The SSL establishes a link that also acts as a warrant that all the information exchanged between the web server and a browsers over the internet are kept private and complete. As a requirement, the SSL certificate allows businesses and clients to carry out an online deal without dreading for their safety. Its details include the domain name, company name as well as address of the certificate owner along with other relevant information. Additionally, it acts as the recipient?s unique identification. Before the issuance of a certificate though, the certificate authority needs to initially perform validation with regards to the certificate owner?s identity.

A key indicator presents a notification stating that a certain session is protected by SSL. A browser has to recover the SSL certificate to find out whether it has already expired. The procedure will also verify if the one who issued the certificate was a trusted certificate authority. It similarly determines whether or not the certificate in question is utilized by the site considered as the recipient. A failure appearing in any one of the aforementioned procedures merits a notification giving an alert which tells that an SSL security is not available.

A technology from Netscape, SSL keeps the online trade thriving partly due to the security it delivers.

Prostate Size May Be Clue to Severity of Cancer (HealthDay)

FRIDAY, Feb. 10 (HealthDay News) -- The size of a man's prostate gland may help doctors predict the severity of his prostate cancer, according to a new study.

Researchers from the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tenn., found smaller prostates that produce higher levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in the blood are more often linked to serious forms of prostate cancer that require aggressive treatment.

"There's nothing about size that would necessarily predict a bad outcome. What it's really about is the ratio of PSA to size, or PSA density, meaning that a small prostate that is making a lot of PSA is likely to be due to a bad tumor, whereas a large prostate making a lot of PSA is likely to be due to benign enlargement of the prostate (BPH)," said the study's senior author, Dr. Daniel Barocas, an assistant professor of urologic surgery, in a university news release.

The study's authors suggest the findings could help doctors determine the best course of treatment for patients with prostate cancer. For instance, low-risk patients with a small prostate might benefit from aggressive treatment.

In conducting the study, they analyzed about 1,250 cases of prostate cancer among men who had their prostate gland removed but were considered to be low-risk because their cancer was classified as low grade.

Within that group, the researchers zeroed in on patients whose risk was considered so low that they might have qualified for less aggressive treatment, including watching and waiting. The study found that in 31 percent of cases considered low-risk in pre-surgical analysis, the prostate cancer was upgraded to more serious once pathologists examined the tissue removed during surgery. The researchers found men with smaller prostates were more likely to be among this group.

The study was recently published in the Journal of Urology.

The researchers pointed out that the findings are significant since men with prostate cancer who are considered low-risk may receive less aggressive treatment or just be placed under observation.

"Our field suffers from this great confusion because in half of men you can find prostate cancer in microscopic amounts that may not be clinically significant and yet it's the second leading cause of cancer death among men," Barocas noted. "The more you look for it, the more you find it but that doesn't help us figure out who needs treatment and who doesn't."

The researchers cautioned that more accurate tests are still needed to determine which cancers are actually threatening to patients.

"The imaging for prostate cancer is relatively weak because the disease tends to be diffuse, rather than growing in what we think of as a tumor -- a spherical nodule. Prostate cancer tends to grow along the glands in a sort of flat pattern, so it's a little harder to detect. A better test, which we don't yet have, would reliably image or identify where in the prostate the tumor lies," Barocas added.

Inter chief Moratti denies Capello reports

Associated Press Sports

updated 3:50 p.m. ET Feb. 9, 2012

MILAN (AP) -Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti insists he is not thinking of replacing coach Claudio Ranieri with former England manager Fabio Capello.

Capello resigned on Wednesday, angry at a decision by the Football Association to strip John Terry of the England captaincy.

In an official statement on Thursday, Moratti says reports he is thinking of replacing Ranieri "now or at the end of the season are without any basis whatsoever" and that rumors he is considering bringing in Capello are "as unfounded."

Capello had a glittering career as a coach in Italy, guiding AC Milan, Roma and Juventus to seven Serie A titles, although the two he won with Juve were both revoked following a match-fixing scandal.

Inter lies fifth in the Serie A.
